ABOUT DEWEY BEACH LIONS CLUB
The Dewey Beach Lions Club was founded in 1951, sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Lions Club. A key part of its history is its connection to local character John Waples, who left his land to the club in his will with the condition that they maintain a playground for children. The John Waples Memorial Playground remains central to the club’s mission, with ongoing fundraisers supporting its upkeep. The club is also known for establishing the Dewey Beach Lifeguard Patrol and hosting community events like Operation Santa, which provides gifts to local children in need.
